Ethan Thompson lives in Hartford and has passed the town square on Route 7 in Brookfield many times over the years. He likes the green, the historical buildings around it and how the properties are kept up. When he was looking for a new location for Black Viper Barber Lounge, he settled in one of those historic buildings.
“Something a little bit closer to home,” Thompson said of 411 Route 7. “I like the area over here a little bit better. It’s a little bit nicer. More community-oriented, I guess.”
Black Viper opened in its new location in mid-April.
“So far, it’s been awesome,” he said. “We pretty much picked up where we left off over there.”
Thompson got his barber license in 2017 and opened Black Viper in Hermitage in 2020. He and Isaiah Basham offer “traditional men’s cuts” and beard lineups.
The spinning barber pole outside the shop has started attracting new customers, and his Hermitage clientele is following him to Brookfield, he said.
“We’re getting to know all the businesses in the area, and it’s been pretty cool, so far,” Thompson said.
Black Viper is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
