The second Warrior Nation Community Summerfest and Car Show will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 10 on the grounds of Brookfield Local School District, 614 Bedford Road, Brookfield.
“Like last year, we have vendors, we have community groups, school clubs, some local restaurants and hopefully a lot of cars and another beautiful day,” said school Supt. Toby Gibson.
There also will be kids’ activities, and Brookfield High graduate Bob Vaia and his band the Classics will play familiar pop, classic rock and country songs. Vaia also is a DJ and will spin tunes when the band is not playing.
“There’s a little bit of a buzz about” the event, said Chris Bray, one of the organizers. He added that he’s looking at ways to expand promotion of the event to bring in people from a wider area.
The impetus for Summerfest is simple: “Give people something to do,” Bray said. “Give people a reason to come out.”
Corvettes should be well-represented at the car show as members of the Shenango Valley Corvette Club have again agreed to help manage the event.
The food vendors were happy with the turnout last year as they sold out of food. Bray said the craft vendors didn’t do as well, and he hopes they’ll do better this year.
New this year, rides on golf carts will be available for people who want to attend Summerfest but do not walk well.
“Hopefully, it will keep growing as the years roll on,” Bray said.
