A Hubbard woman has been sent to state prison on two charges following an incident April 27 in which she had a mental health episode in Brookfield.
Victoria A. Prommersberger, 33, pleaded guilty Dec. 16 to charges of possessing a weapon under disability and inducing panic. Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Sarah Thomas Kovoor sentenced her to 9 months in prison.

Brookfield police said they were called to Hubbard’s Haven Campground, 1436 Route 7, with a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller said the car was driven into a wooden area and the driver abandoned it and ran into woods, police said. A check of the license plate identified Prommersberger as the owner, and that she did not have a license, police said. The car contained an open can of an alcoholic drink and a container for a Glock 9 mm pistol, police said.
Hubbard city police had encountered Prommersberger recently following a report that she had threatened a family member, police said.
A Liberty police K9 was brought in and police began a search for Prommersberger. A gun was found on the ground and Prommersberger walked out of the woods and gave herself up, police said.
Prommersberger told police she did not know how the car got there, and that she had stolen the gun from her boyfriend, police said. She also said she had planned to harm herself, police said.
Prommersberger is not allowed to possess a handgun because of a previous conviction for felony drug possession, police said.
On June 28, Ohio Highway Patrol arrested Prommersberger for drunken driving after she drove off the road and into a cable barrier on Interstate 80 in Liberty, and she was subsequently convicted of the charge.

She requires mental health intervention, not jail. Sounds like she was planning on committing suicide in the woods.
We are quick to condemn, but as a society we do very little to help broken people heal.
