It’s not like the kitchen at the Brookfield banquet hall hasn’t been deep cleaned. It’s just that it’s been a while, and no one is sure how long a while, said Trustee Shannon Devitz.
“I’d like to start maintaining this better,” she said.
So the trustees hired All Spruced Up of Boardman, and, in February, Paige Collins and her crew pulled the racks out of the refrigerator and scrubbed them, soaped up the faucet heads and scoured the sides of cabinets.

All Spruced Up was paid $800.
The hall, located behind the fire station at 774 Route 7, Brookfield, has been a priority for the trustees, particularly Devitz, the last several years as they had the roof fixed, mold in the ceiling removed, a decaying wall rebuilt, emergency lights replaced, the hall painted, and chairs, tables and water-leak brown ceiling tiles replaced.
Before All Spruced Up’s employees started their work, township workers from the road department removed the broken dishwasher and freezer.
Devitz also wants to wax the floors and get a new coat of paint applied to the wall and, possibly, install a new-three bowl sink. Then, she wants to start a promotion campaign, especially in light of the closing of Tiffany’s Event Center last year.
“It’s a nice community space,” she said. “I’m hoping to get a little more traffic and have it rented every weekend.”

The hall makes money and Devitz wants to pump that money back into the hall, and set up a regular cleaning schedule beyond the cleaning the members of the fire department do after rentals and the members of the ladies’ auxiliary do after a funeral dinner or a blood drive.
Devitz added that the hall is starting to attract larger events that in the past might have gone to Tiffany’s.
“I’d like to start maintaining this better,” Devitz said. “The maintenance is the biggest thing we don’t always get to.”
