Sam and Gladys Jennings are shown in their shared work space at Jennings Manufacturing Co. in Masury.
Holly Grell-Lawe, the granddaughter of Masury industrialists Sam and Gladys Jennings, will talk about the history of Jennings Manufacturing for the Brookfield Historical Society at 7 p.m. April 9 at Briceland funeral home, 379 Route 7, Brookfield.
Grell-Lawe’s mom, Pamela Jennings Grell, maintains a website at jennningsmfgco.com that shows photos of many of the company’s products, from teaspoons to huge blast furnace bells, with supporting data. Jennings Grell said it took four years to put the website together.
The site also contains a list of company patents, photos of homes the company built for workers – it also built St. Bernadette’s Church in Masury – and a history of the company that was first published in 1949.
Jennings Manufacturing flourished from 1932 until its sale in 1975. Its two Masury plants are now owned by Eddie Kane Steel.
