Nancy J. Dickson, 69, of 7799 First St., Masury, pleaded guilty April 9 in Trumbull County Eastern District Court to four counts of endangering children and one count of animal cruelty. Three counts of endangering children were dismissed as part of a plea agreement, with Dickson paying court costs in those cases.
Judge Marty Nosich sentenced Dickson to the 2 days in jail she had already served, a $100 fine and one year of probation.
The parents of the children each have been charged with seven felony counts of endangering children. Mark M. Morris, 41, of Sharon, is awaiting grand jury action in his case. Cortney L. DeJulia, 37, of 7799 First St., Masury, is in Mercer County Jail awaiting extradition proceedings.
Police were summoned to First Street with a report that a 4-year-old child was wandering around the neighborhood. After police spent more than an hour of trying to determine where the child had come from, Dickson came to the door and said she had been sleeping and was unaware the child had gotten out, police said.
Two other children were found sleeping in the home, and four other children were at school, police said.
Trumbull County Children’s Services Board removed all the children from the home, police said.
Two dogs were secured in a bedroom “with no water, along with poor living conditions,” police said. The Animal Welfare League took custody of the dogs, police said.
