Brookfield trustees have awarded a contract to Becdel Controls Inc. of Brookfield to replace the lights in the front parking lot at Brookfield Township Community Park.
Becdel was hired March 31 based on a quote of $4,266, the lowest of four. The company will remove the existing lights – putting two of them on other buildings in the park, including the concession stand – and install eight new lights on four arms. The lights will be positioned so as not to shine on neighboring properties, said Trustee Shannon Devitz.
The other quotes ranged from $5,566 to $5,890.
Devitz noted she walked the park with a Becdel representative to formulate the scope of work.
The trustees agreed to upgrade the lighting after they agreed to allow Brookfield Youth Baseball and Softball League to install lights on two of the ball fields at no charge to the township.

Just out curiosity is the Baseball team responsible for the electricity bill or the township. Just a curious and honest question. I think the lights are a great addition.
Parking lots: Township pays for electricity.
Fields: Ball league pays.
