A group of Brookfield High School students recently popped in at township businesses and other organizations to say “Hi” and ask if they can place a window cling in the window of the establishment.
The clings, made in the school’s Maker Space, read, “We proudly support Brookfield Local Schools,” and are in an arrowhead shape.
“We got many people to say yes,” said student Lillian Trump. The effort was made, “Just to show support for our district,” she said.
Lillian and two other students, Jenna Omar and Mianna Cinacola, told the board of education about the effort on March 18. They said it was a lot of fun.
“I think it was an educational and rewarding experience for all of us,” said school Community Liaison Sabbrina Landers.
School Supt. Toby Gibson described the initiative as “a way to kind of bridge the gap between the district and the community, especially the business community.”
“For students to go around and they (business staffers) can see the clientele of the district, not just myself or a school board member walking in and asking for things, introduce yourselves, share a little bit about the school, means more than anything I can do,” he said. “Hopefully, this is something we do continuously.”
It will be, Landers said, noting plans are being made to go out again later in the school year.
