Tiffany L. Daniels, 36, and James C. Daniels, 45, now of Hubbard, each pleaded guilty to four counts and the other seven were dismissed upon the stipulation that there was probable cause for the charges to be filed.
Trumbull County Eastern District Court Judge Marty Nosich sentenced James to the 1 day he had already spent in jail and made him eligible to perform 200 hours of community service instead of serving another 19 days. James also was fined $250 and put on 2 years’ probation. With costs and probation fees, he owes the court $2,805.
Tiffany entered the same plea terms and was sentenced identically, except that she was given credit for 3 days she had already spent in jail.
Brookfield police said they were called Dec. 8 by the son of the landlord of the First Street home. The Daniels family had been evicted two to three weeks earlier, police said.

Police said they observed six malnourished cats and five dead ones in a bedroom and the basement. One cat was found in a furnace, identifiable by its skull and “some of the legs,” police said. Two of the dead cats “appear to have been cannibalized,” police said.
Healthy Hearts and Paws, Warren, took possession of all the cats, police said. A vet report indicated the live cats were in a state of “serious physical harm,” police said.
