Brookfield High School senior Brooke Montgomery signed a letter of intent April 1 to throw the discus and shot put for the University of Mount Union’s track and field team.

Brooke is following her brother Kenny, to Mount Union, where he is a senior.

“I’m used to being there because of my brother,” she said. “After talking with the coaches, I was really comfortable and had a great conversation with them, and the campus is really nice.”

In track and field events so far this year, Brooke has placed first, second or third in several meets. Brooke said she likes the throwing events because she gets to be part of a team, but “you get to be more by yourself.”

She plans to study biomedical engineering in college, she said.

While at Brookfield, Brooke also played volleyball and basketball, and has been a member of student council, Environmental Club, Interact Club, SADD, English Festival and National Honor Society.
