UPDATE: Talk with a Trustee has been canceeled.

Brookfield Branch Library will host the annual Grove Street Block Party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 30 on and around Grove Street between Route 7 and Bedford Road in Brookfield, and on the green in Brookfield Center.

The free event includes a car cruise, a “messtival” – with mud, paint and water activities, and a touch-a-truck with big trucks, construction equipment, police and fire vehicles and a school bus for people to explore. Local groups will have tables with activities and information about their organizations.

Timed events:

  • Outback Ray and his Amazing Animals, 10:30 a.m.
  • Nate the Great making balloon sculptures, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Uke Kool Lady Paulette Darko sings songs accompanied by her ukulele, noon to 1:30 p.m.
  • Nate the Great presents a magic show, 1:30 p.m.

La Palma will have a food truck, and the Brookfield United Methodist Church Youth Group will have hot dogs and other refreshments for a donation.

The library will have a book sale and is accepting donations of books and media of up to two bags or boxes per person beginning May 18. Books must be in good condition and no textbooks or encyclopedias will be accepted.

The block party is made possible through a bequest from Delores Romelfanger in collaboration with Brookfield community organizations, including the township trustees, Brookfield Local School District and Brookfield United Methodist Church.
