Brookfield High School has announced that these students received recognition for their efforts during winter sports:
Girls wrestling
Letter winners: Mia Ashman, Delaney Williams, Isabella Williams and Gracie Teal
Isabella qualified for the state tournament with a third-place finish in the district tournament. She was defeated in her second-round match at state. She placed first in the East Palestine Tournament.
Mia and Delaney also qualified for the district tournament.
Boys Wrestling
Letter winners: Shawn Lacamera, Adam McFarland, Brayden Reed, Donovan O’Brien, Ricky Blake, Hunter Hoskins and Marquiese Norris.
Brayden notched his 100th win. He placed first in the Cardinal High School Wrestling Tournament and the Brookfield Wrestling Rebel Rally Tournament.
Brayden, Adam and Donovan qualified for the district tournament.
Girls Bowling
Letter winners: Kara Vanderslice, Zoe Wilkes, Jenna Agueda and Aubrey Burke.
Kara was named to the All-Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference First Team. Zoe made the second team and Jenna was an honorable mention.
Kara and Zoe were named district qualifiers.
Boys Bowling
Letter winners: Micah Groh, Jacob Hodge, Jayden Duncan, Connor O’Brien-Bobbie and Andrew Richards.
Jacob was named to the All-MVAC Second Team. Connor was an honorable mention.
Boys basketball
Letter winners: Bray Coleman, Teagen Barbe, Judah DeJoy, Cody Davidson, Josh Rankin, Blake Hammond, Joe Hook, Brody Smith and Robbie Flynn.
Blake was named to the District I, Division VI, All District Team, and the All-MVAC First Team. The Ohio Prep Sports Media Association named him to the second team of the All-Inland District for Division VI, and he was an All-Ohio honorable mention for Division VI.
Brody made the All-MVAC Second Team, and Robbie was honorable mention.
Judah was Brookfield’s nominee for Basketball Player of the Year.
The team tied for the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Tier championship with a 64-62 win over Garfield Feb. 16. The win was also Head Coach Shawn Hammond’s 300th.
The team played in the district semifinal game Feb. 26, losing to Willoughby Andrews Osborne.
Girls basketball
Letter winners: Alex Lapikas, Noelys Caraballo, Brooke Montgomery, Alana Jervis, Elaina Boyce, Mariah Norris, Ava Winters, Maci Phillips and Lily Horsman.
Maci was named to the All-MVAC Second Team, and Mariah was honorable mention.
Brooke was Brookfield’s nominee for Basketball Player of the Year.
The team earned the Division VI sectional championship with a 44-30 win Feb. 19 over Willoughby Andrews Osborne. They played in the district semifinal game Feb. 24, losing to Rootstown.
