Brookfield Township Road Supt. Jaime Fredenburg has been given permission to order two new dump trucks.
Well, the cabs and chassis for two new trucks. The rest of the trucks – dump beds, plows, spreaders, hydraulics and accessory wiring – will be ordered from a separate vendor later.
The trustees approved the purchase of the cabs and chassis from Cleveland Freightliner for $115,535 each. Fredenburg said he has about $120,000 saved up, and is looking at taking out a loan for the rest of the amount due.
The truck prices were bid through a state procurement process, relieving the township from having to accept sealed bids.
Delivery is expected in December, Fredenburg said.
The newest truck in the department’s fleet is 11 years old, and the oldest is a 1996 model.
Fredenburg said he is getting proposals for the components that will be built onto the cabs and chassis. On July 6, the trustees are expected to fire a contractor that will add the components to the cabs and chassis.
The township will not use road levy funds for the purchase, said Trustee Mark Ferrara.
