The Ohio School Board Association in April presented a 20-year service award to Ronda Bonekovic of the Brookfield Board of Education.
“I think there’s somewhere between 3,400 and 3,500 board members in Ohio,” said Reno Contipelli, regional manager for OSBA, who presented the award. “About 50 percent don’t run for election after their first term. To do 20 (years), that’s pretty incredible.”
Bonekovic actually has served longer than 20 years. She served on the board for a time, took a year off, and then joined it again, she said. She has never tabulated her exact number of years of service.
