Brookfield Fire Department has been awarded the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline EMS Recognition Award Silver Status for its treatment of suspected heart attack and stroke patients.
The award is based on the department’s timely conducting of stroke assessments, blood glucose testing and ECG tests and speed of transporting patients to appropriate cardiac and stroke centers.
“While every emergency call is unique and no two situations are exactly the same, this award reflects the consistent, high-quality care our firefighters and EMS providers deliver every day throughout our community,” the department said in a Facebook post.
There is one higher award status – gold – and that requires a prior silver designation in order to be awarded, firefighters said.
