Brookfield police said a man who was found dead June 22 in the township cemetery appears to have taken his own life.

Police identified the man as Tyler Anderson, 24. Although Anderson’s driver’s license listed his address as Hubbard, police said he had recently been living in Brookfield.

A Brookfield Township Cemetery worker found the man’s body and called police at 8:28 a.m. At the time, the worker was not sure whether the man was alive.

“When we got there, he was found to be deceased with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said Sgt. Aaron Kasiewicz.

A handgun was found with the body.

As to whether Anderson had ties to anyone buried in the cemetery: “I have no clue,” Kasiewicz said. “He lived in close proximity to the cemetery.”

Police said they do not know how long the body had been in the cemetery, and that an autopsy was likely to be performed June 23.
