A power outage that caused Brookfield Local School officials to cancel school Tuesday, May 28, will not affect the date of the last day of school.

School still will end Thursday, said Superintendent Jo Taylor.

“We are still good on hours required for students,” she said. “Whew.”

Power went out at a little before 6:30 a.m. today. Brookfield Fire Chief David Masirovits said an electrical transformer blew and caught fire at Bedford and Addison roads. Taylor said she was informed a tree fell on lines on Bedford.

Power has sporadically returned, and the school finally got its electricity back at around 1 p.m.
