A Brookfield man initially charged with sex offenses has pleaded no contest to a charge of simple assault
for exposing himself to a woman during a therapeutic massage session in Sharpsville.
David C. Hartman, 66, of 804 Valley View Drive, entered the plea Oct. 6 in Mercer County Common
Pleas Court, and was sentenced to 1 year of probation by Judge Tedd C. Nesbit. Hartman will not have to
register as a sex offender, nor undergo sex offender treatment, and prosecutors did not oppose a
probationary sentence.
Sharpsville police filed charges of indecent assault, indecent exposure and harassment based on a complaint filed by a woman. She reported March 11 that she had been getting massage therapy from
Hartman, a licensed massage therapist, since February 2020 at a Sharpsville chiropractic clinic, police said.
The woman said that on Feb, 11, 2021, Hartman exposed himself to the woman and “attempted to touch the thigh of the victim without her consent,” said Assistant District Attorney Meghan Murphy. This
conduct “attempted to cause bodily injury” to the woman, Murphy said.
