A Youngstown man has been sentenced for a home-improvement scam that included a Brookfield woman among his victims.

John P. Bartos, 40, pleaded guilty Aug. 29 to 10 counts of theft, covering charges filed by police in Brookfield, Niles, Vienna and Howland.

Bartos was sentenced Oct. 26 by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Andrew Logan to 3 months in jail followed by 5 years’ probation.

In the Brookfield case, a resident of South Park Drive reported on Feb. 1 that she had given Bartos a down payment of $3,205 to replace doors and windows in her home on May 2, 2022, but he never returned to do the work, giving her multiple excuses as to why he had not started, police said.

Bartos’ company was Gridiron Windows and Doors.

Bartos reportedly faces similar charges in Mahoning and Columbiana counties.
