Brookfield school Supt. Toby Gibson’s plan to have all outdoor athletic facilities at the Bedford Road school campus could be realized in a relatively short period of time.

“Hopefully, in the next year, or two years, we should have football, baseball and softball all up there,” Gibson said. “If not, it’ll all come down to timing.”

Brookfield holds its home football games at the traditional Nicholas Field on Addison Road, and baseball and softball are played at Brookfield Township Community Park, Stewart Sharon Road.

Soccer, track and cross country hold their home meets at the Brookfield school campus.

Officials are getting quotes to light the on-campus stadium and improve drainage, Gibson said. They also have to consider adding bleachers and addressing accessibility issues at the field, which is on a hill.

Treasurer Jordan Weber added that officials are studying bidding and procurement requirements.

Officials said they are exploring grant options, and board member Derek Mihalcin said naming-rights sponsorships at the field, which would elapse at a set period of time, would give the school a constant stream of revenue for the athletic department.
