Editor’s note: This story was updated March 9 after the trustees amended three meeting dates to account for holidays.
Brookfield trustees have instituted two, new monthly meetings.
The meetings, which would be open to the public, should eliminate instances where items get thrown on the regular meeting agenda without the trustees’ knowledge, said Trustee Ron Haun.
The regular meeting is held at 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month in the township administration building on Strimbu Drive.
“What I’d like to do is, twice a month, at 7 o’clock in the morning, have a department head meeting,” Haun said Monday. “I think we can eliminate a lot of these questions. We’ll have all the department heads come here, and we’ll have a one-hour meeting with them, and they can tell us any problems they are having in their department, whether its equipment, machinery or anything like that. It will also help us plan better for any problems.”
“I talked to some trustees from other areas and this is a format that they use,” Haun said. “What they find is it eliminates a lot of problems.”
The trustees did not set specific dates, but Haun said he would like to hold the meetings the “last week of the month before the trustee meeting and then two weeks after that.”
In an unrelated matter, the trustees served notice Wednesday that they will meet at 3 p.m. Feb. 16 at the township park with representatives of the Trumbull County Soil and Water Conservation District. They previously announced a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the administration building to meet with volunteer firefighters.
Meeting dates are March 12 and 26; April 9 and 23; May 14 and 28; June 11 and 25; July 9 and 23; Aug. 13 and 27; Sept. 10 and 24; Oct. 8 and 22; Nov. 12 and 26; and Dec. 10.
