Brookfield High School football standout Gage Emery signed a letter of intent on Feb. 5 to play football at Lake Erie College in Painesville.
A two-way star at Brookfield as a wide receiver and free safety, Gage said he knows he will be a receiver with the Storm, but is not sure if he will play defense.
“They didn’t have a strong receiver corps,” Gage said of the Division 2 Storm’s three-win 2019 season. “I think I fit in perfectly.”
Gage, who is 6-feet, 2-inches tall and also plays basketball at Brookfield, lettered three years in football. His 2019 accolades include being named first team All Trumbull County and All-American Conference and second team All Northeast Ohio Inland District. He led the AAC in interceptions with six in 2019.
“He’ll be a great player, great addition up there,” said Brookfield Head Football Coach Randy Clark. “Last four years, he’s been over and beyond – hard worker, great competitor, good athlete, good teammate and very good, especially, with the younger kids.”
Gage, who plans to study business, said he had a great visit to Lake Erie College.
“The coaches give off a really good atmosphere,” he said.
Gage’s hudl profile and highlights video can be seen on the Lake Erie College web site.
