Brookfield Fire Chief David Masirovits said he is updating his mutual aid program.

Through mutual aid, outside departments respond to Brookfield calls, or Brookfield leaves its borders to help other departments. Mutual aid agreements, whether written or not, have existed for decades.

“Due to staffing issues, not only here, but throughout the area, and an increase in call volume, especially with medical calls, I want to beef up some of our fire responses to include neighboring communities,” Masirovits told the trustees March 20.

He noted that he had already updated what outside departments are called to Hartford fires, adding Burghill-Vernon, Fowler and Orangeville, because of the lack of public water and “it seems to have worked out really well up there.”

Masirovits said he was having his command staff review possible revisions, and then he would meet with Trumbull County 911 officials.
