A Warren man found with fentanyl when he appeared in Trumbull County Eastern District Court for a probation violation hearing has been sentenced to prison.
Dominique L. Smith, 24, pleaded guilty April 12 to a charge of felony possession of fentanyl. Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Cynthia Westcott Rice sentenced Smith May 22 to 17 months in prison.
A probation officer for Trumbull County Eastern District Court said Smith “arrived to court” with a bag of the drug March 28, 2022, and the probation officer alerted Brookfield police, police said.
The probation violation case stemmed from an earlier Brookfield police case in which Smith pleaded guilty or no contest to charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and possession of marijuana.
