Construction of a new bridge on Brockway Sharon Road – also known as Orangeville Road – in the northeastern section of Masury began last week.

The bridge had been in poor condition for some time and was closed in October on an emergency basis.

Officials already had been working on replacing it and have hired Ohio Bridge Corp. of Wheeling to provide the steel, Jet Excavating of New Middletown to put up the bridge and Kirila Contractors of Brookfield to pave the road over it, said Trumbull County Deputy Engineer Gary Shaffer.

“By Thanksgiving, that’s gonna be open,” Shaffer said with his fingers crossed.

The project budget is $200,000, he said.
