Brookfield Local School District is phasing out the online study program that was a holdover from the shutdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“How you were allowed to handle things during the pandemic are a little bit different now,” school Supt. Toby Gibson told the school board on July 26.

“It’s more closely scrutinized by the state, which makes it difficult, especially for a school our size, to monitor everything,” Gibson said.

The Warrior Online Academy, under the direction of Chris Fahndrich, will still exist in a limited fashion for purposes of credit recovery and offering courses that the district can’t offer on its own, he said.

“We have a handful of students that have been in it for a while, so they’re kind of grandfathered, but we’ll have to work with them to bring them into the building so many hours a day,” Gibson said.
