A Brookfield man has been sent to prison for stabbing another man multiple times Aug. 4 in the township.

Travis A, Serotko, 32, of 1032 N. Park Circle, pleaded guilty Dec. 12 to a charge of felonious assault. Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald Rice sentenced Serotko Jan. 11 to 4 to 6 years in prison.

Serotko and the victim, a 39-year-old man, got into a fight in the 1200 block of North Park Circle, Brookfield police said. The victim said he confronted Serotko about Serotko revving the engine of his motorcycle and they argued. Serotko drove off but came back and revved his engine again, the victim told police.

The victim said he confronted Serotko again and they started fighting. Another man entered the fray, and then Serotko stabbed him, the victim told police.

The victim drove himself to the hospital. Medical staff said there were more than 14 stab wounds to the victim’s left side, police said.

Serotko was arrested Aug. 5 by Weathersfield and Niles police at his mother’s home in Weathersfield. Serotko told police he had stabbed the victim in self-defense and threw the knife in a river near his mom’s home, police said.

Serotko has been in custody since Aug. 5.
