Firefighters from Sharon and Brookfield pull hose off a Sharon truck to fight a fire at Hilltop Pizza in Masury.

A basement fire filled Hilltop Pizza in Masury with smoke Feb. 17, and the business at 8218 Warren Sharon Road is closed until further notice.

“My family and I are extremely thankful for the Brookfield Fire Department and all other departments for responding so quickly,” Hilltop posted on Facebook. “It could have ended much worse, but thankfully everyone is okay, and the building was saved.”

Brookfield firefighters said the cause is not suspicious, but it is being investigated by an outside investigator. No one was injured, firefighters said.

Calls to the investigator and Hilltop owner Nancy Scharba were not immediately returned.

It appears the fire started in the floor near a pizza oven, firefighters said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 9:41 p.m.; Brookfield was assisted by firefighters from Sharon, Hubbard and Burghill-Vernon.
