Brookfield Local School District has announced the following awards for the winter sports teams:

High school wrestling

Letter winners were: Brayden Reed, Justin Calip, Troy Randall, Brian Smith, Ricky Blake, Justin Budnik and Caden Rodwanski.

Brayden participated in the district tournament and was named to the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Grey Tier Second Team.

Justin Calip was a district tournament alternate and MVAC Honorable Mention.

In other MVAC selections, Troy was named to the Second Team and Ricky and Justin Budnik were Honorable Mentions.

High school girls basketball

Letter winners were: Cailey Wellman, Jasmine Hubbard, Madisyn Fisher, Delaney Schultz, Mya Jumper, Marae Craig and Brooke Montgomery.

Cailey also was named to the All Inland District Division 3 Second Team, the MVAC First Team and participated in the Youngstown Sports Network All-Star Game.

Mya was named to the MVAC Second Team, and Marae was an Honorable Mention.

The team made it to the sectional semi-final game.

High school boys basketball

Letter winners were: Matteo Fortuna, Nevon Hoffman, Alex Kiskadden, Brandon Hardman, Riley Russo, Shaun Dungee, Judah DeJoy, Teaghan Barbe and Josh Rankin.

Matteo also was named to the All Inland District Division 3 Second Team, MVAC Grey Tier Player of the Year, District 1 All District Team and participated in the Youngstown Sports Network All-Star Game.

Nevon was named to the MVAC Second Team, and Judah was an Honorable Mention

The team made it to the sectional semi-final game.

High school bowling

Letter winners were: Emily Kasiewicz, Tara Thompson, Kara Vanderslice, Zoe Wilkes, Jacob Hodge, Zach Miller, Lucas Linonis, Leo Burke, Connor O’Brien, Micah Groh and Cody Thompson.

Kara participated in the district bowling tournament.

High school cheerleading

Letter winners were: Lillie Toth, Reanna Reardon, Cadence Huffman, Gia Franz, Rylie Burdge, Alexia Baker, Paitynn Foist, Lauren Murcko and Brianna Wolford.

Middle school wrestling

Eighth-grade student Isabella Williams won her second Ohio Wrestling Association for Youth’s junior high girls wrestling tournament championship March 16 in Marion. Isabella wrestled at 157 pounds. Kali Kettler, also an eighth-grader, captured third place in the 144-pound bracket.

Isabella placed second in the Ohio Athletic Committee state tournament March 17 in Youngstown. She wrestled at 155 pounds, and it was her second runner-up placement. She then wrestled at the Viper Pit Nationals and the Tournament of Champions, both held in April in West Virginia.

Middle school basketball

The eighth-grade team won the MVAC Grey Tier championship with a 57-30 tally over Newton Falls.
