An employee of a Masury bar charged with gambling offenses has been placed in a diversionary program.
Madeline G. Porterfield, 48, of 5736 Merwin Chase Road, Brookfield, was charged with three counts of gambling following an investigation by the Ohio Investigative Unit that revealed three gambling machines at Mo’s Place, 1516 Standard Ave., Masury. The machines and $1,060 were seized Jan. 9, said the Ohio Investigative Unit, an arm of the Ohio Highway Patrol that handles gambling enforcement.
By entering the diversionary program, she agreed to perform 40 hours of community service and be monitored by a probation officer for six months. If she completes the program, the charges will be dismissed.
The bar’s owner, Mo Hejazi, 74, of Greenville, has been charged with three counts of operating a gambling house. His next court hearing was scheduled for May 21.
