Brookfield trustees announced today that Brookfield Police Sgt. Aaron Kasiewicz will be the next chief of police.

Kasiewicz will be officially hired later, after the sides agree on a contract, which will include his salary, trustees said.

The move was not a surprise as the trustees limited the field of applicants to existing department members, and Kasiewicz was the only applicant.

Kasiewicz will take over July 1, the day after Police Chief Dan Faustino’s contract expires.

Kasiewicz is a life-long township resident who has been with the department since March 2005, which followed a stint with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Department.

Kasiewicz has the support of Faustino and the other two senior members of the department, Sgt. Cody Dean and Cpl. Gerald Hockey, trustees said.
