Toby Gibson issued the following statement on March 12:

“The Brookfield Local schools will be canceling classes for students on Friday, March 13, tomorrow, and Monday, March 16. These will be waiver days so all district staff can report to prepare lessons and facilities for an extended spring break. If you do not have access to a computer or internet at home, please call your school office and give them your name and child’s grade level. I will provide more information on Monday in regards to blizzard bags or online lessons. Effective Friday, tomorrow, all school activities including extracurricular events and athletic practices or games will be canceled. Beginning Tuesday, March 17, we will follow the directive of Gov. Mike DeWine and close our school district for at least three weeks. I know these are unprecedented times. They may seem scary, but we cannot panic and give in to fear. We are a family … and we will work through this together.”
